His Holiness Karmapa Gives Chenrezig Empowerment at The Berjaya Times Square Hotel in The Manhattan Grand Ballroom

Kuala Lumpur, Audience, Ceremony, Empowerment

On Sunday, May 20th, His Holiness Karmapa began an all day program at the Berjaya Times Square Hotel in Kuala Lumpur, which was to include audiences with various Karma Kagyu Buddhist centers throughout Malaysia, a Zambhala Puja and a Chenrezig Empowerment in the evening.

A multitude of devotees and Center representatives flocked to meet His Holiness Karmapa and to have the chance to receive His Holiness’ advice and guidance. Among them were Lama Khedrup Gyatso and the members of Karma Norbuling Buddhist Center Alma, the staff of the karma Kagyu Buddhist Society, Lama Thapkha and the members of the Saraha Johor Bahru Buddhist Center, Karma Kagyu Kuching Buddhist Center and the members of Bodhi Path Kuching.

His Holiness Karmapa offered these words of advice to the centers of Malaysia.

“The most important thing is to continue practicing Dharma. Life is always impermanent, changing. Dharma, in that way, becomes even more important. In this precious existence, to find Dharma brothers and sisters is very rare. Therefore, we have this wonderful opportunity. It is best to prolong it for best results. Do one’s part to develop a pure view with all Dharma friends. The more effort you put into having a pure view, in time it will become easier. My main wish is to always work together, practice together. You can see the development in each other more clearly, see each other’s development and be more inspired. Do your best to practice together. Then, there will be more conditions for merit and wisdom. Without practice, we are living an ordinary life. Practice makes life special. Not only that, but it makes you more aware and compassionate. Whenever you have the opportunity, make the best use of your time for practice.”

The Manhattan Grand Ballroom of the Berjaya Times Square Hotel had nearly filled to capacity with yet another assembly of devotees, practitioners and interested onlookers, eager to receive the blessings of His Holiness Karmapa during the evening’s main event, the empowerment of Chenrezig.

Building on the introduction His Holiness Karmapa had given the prior evening at the Karma Kagyu Buddhist Society about blessing and aspirations, His Holiness went deeper in an inspiring explanation of what it is to have genuine compassion and how to cultivate merit and wisdom.

Words of Wisdom
The human heart, Bodhicitta, is the most precious of all. While Buddhas are helpful in life, the compassionate heart is even more precious than a Buddha. In the human heart, we see limitless hope.
