June 1st The Gyalwa Karmapa arrives in Manila Philippines

On the 1st of June His Holiness Karmapa arrived in Manila. Immediately upon arrival, His Holiness was ushered to a private meeting room at the airport, where a press conference was held by the leading television and Newspaper organizations of the Philippines. His Holiness Karmapa’s message was well received by the predominantly catholic community in Manila, as it spoke to the hearts of all humanity regardless of their religious or political orientation.

“I am here to teach about compassion, goodness, and patience, very basic Buddhist principles that we try to live by. I hope to talk about the principles of karma, and how none of us are humans, or where we are, by accident. We all have a purpose.”

Later that evening, the people of manila invited His Holiness Karmapa to a grand gala dinner as the guest of honor. Many prominent Congressmen and government officials were in attendance and offered speeches of gratitude towards His Holiness for bringing His message of compassion to the people of the Philippines. Congresswoman Emi Calixto Rubiano, representing her father, the Mayor of Pasay City Antonino Calixto, presented His Holiness Karmapa with the key to the city. Her Excellency Madame Imelda Marcos shared the table with His Holiness Karmapa. The two shared in candid conversation throughout the evening of festivities and cultural programs held at the prestigious Enderun College.
