Karmapa visits Indonesia (14-22 November 2019)

From 14-22 November 2019, Thaye Dorje His Holiness the 17th Gyalwa Karmapa, visited Indonesia.

On 14 November, Karmapa arrived at Jakarta International Airport.

On 17 November, Karmapa and his entourage came together with the Theravada and Mahayana masters and monks of Wihara Ekayana Arama, a Mahayana Temple in Jakarta.

17 November 2019 Karmapa Meets Theravada and Mahayana Sanghas at Indonesia Buddhist Centre in Jakarta

There was a procession of the Venerable masters and sanghas into the temple.

Abbots of the different schools gave speeches, and there was a joint blessing of the students present. Lunch was then served.

On 18 November, there was the Kagyu Monlam Prayer at Wihara Ekayana Arama. Karmapa blessed all those present.

On 19 November, Karmapa and his entourage traveled to Batam, where he was greeted by Master Da He and other Rinpoches and lamas.

The next day, 20 November, Karmapa led a groundbreaking ceremony at the site of a new monastery. Karmapa also led a traditional fish release ceremony. Karmapa led a consecration ceremony of Master Da He’s two Buddhist centres in Batam.

Later on, dinner was served to 700 students at the Vihara Amitabha Mahayana temple in Batam. Karmapa gave teachings, blessed those present, including many people from Malaysia and Singapore.

On 21 November, the afternoon session at the Pacific Palace Hotel in Batam started with an offering ceremony, together with dance and song performances.

Karmapa led the Chenresig Empowerment for 2000 students who were present in the ballroom.

Karmapa gave instructions to the students. At the end, Karmapa blessed everyone through the distribution of the consecrated water from the bumpa (ritual vase).

On 22 November, Karmapa again led teachings and Kagyu Monlam Prayers at the Vihara Amitabha Mahayana temple in Batam. Karmapa gave explanations regarding the correct way to accomplish aspiration prayers.
