The Gyalwa Karmapa Visits The Patients Of Ren Ci Hospital And Medicare Centre

Audience, Puja, Visit

On the 30th of May, His Holiness Karmapa visited all of the patients of the Ren Ci Hospital and Medicare Centre in Singapore. Ren Ci is a charity hospital treating long term aged patients. It was said that many of the elderly and
disabled patients have not received any personal visitors in over 10 years.

The Karmapa took the time to go from wheelchair to wheelchair, bedside to bedside one by one meeting and greeting the aged patients, who suffered from various debilitating afflictions. Some met His Holiness with tears of joy, some with broad smiles and joyous roars of excitement and some with faces frozen in anguish from long suffering ailments. All were happy to receive the blessings and attention of His Holiness, who approached each and every individual with gentle strength and fortitude and a tender gaze that showed His Holiness’ heartfelt compassion and a deep understanding of their individual suffering. Afterward, the staff of the hospital gathered to receive the blessings of the Karmapa and to accept a donation given by the Karma Kagyu Dharma Centre of Singapore.

Later that day, His Holiness met with the organizers and volunteers who have worked tirelessly to make this year’s program in Singapore a success. His Holiness Karmapa offered His gratitude to the volunteers.

“All of the energy and time you have given will have definitely accumulated a lot of merit. By offering your time to create this atmosphere, it gives a lot of opportunity for individuals to know the Dharma. Therefore, you should rejoice and never doubt. You have my deepest prayers and I thank each and every one of you.”

In the evening, His Holiness Karmapa presided over the Grand Mahakala Puja.
