05 August 2005:
His Holiness the 17th Karmapa Trinlay Thaye Dorje arrived in the United Kingdom for the first time in his 17th incarnation.

06 August 2005:
His Holiness the 17th Karmapa Thaye Dorje was interviewed by BBC Radio 4 and by the Chinese and Russian website sections of the BBC World Service.

His Holiness the 17th Karmapa Thaye Dorje gave explanations on Buddhist Refuge and Bodhisattva Promise in the Friends Meeting House in London, the same venue where H.H. the 16th Karmapa gave the Black Crown Ceremony in 1976. Following the explanations, 100 people took Refuge and over 700 participants received the Bodhisattva Promise.

07 August 2005:

His Holiness the 17th Karmapa gave Buddhist Refuge, the Bodhisattva Promise and the Marpa initiation to over 700 participants in the Friends Meeting House, London.

08 August 2005:

His Holiness the 17th Karmapa Trinlay Thaye Dorje was the guest of honour at an interfaith reception to celebrate Friendship and Trust, at St Ethelburga’s Centre for Reconciliation and Peace, London. In the presence of the Bishop of London, His Holiness and spiritual leaders from the Hindu, Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Sikh and Jain faiths unveiled a Japanese tapestry, “People of the World”. H.H. 17th Karmapa also delivered the keynote speech. The event was hosted by The Hindu Forum of Britain.
