His Holiness Gyalwa Karmapa Visits Paris, France

Paris, Teaching, Visit

Monday evening, September the 15th, 2008, the 17th Gyalwa Karmapa Trinley Thaye Dorje gave a talk on “the spirit of Generosity and Peace” in the famous Theatre des Bouffes Parisiens. The many disciples and Parisians who had crowded in the typical 19th century French theatre, received an inspiring teaching on this subject by the head of the Karma Kagyu lineage of Tibetan Buddhism.

The Gyalwa Karmapa stressed the importance of developing compassion and made clear that the ancient Buddhist philosophy is meaningful for people in a modern world, too, offering methods that lead towards ultimate well-being. In the question and answer session at the end of his teaching, a vivid dialogue with the audience developed. Finally, the audience offered khatags, the traditional Tibetan ceremonial scarves, to the Gyalwa Karmapa and received his blessing. The event ended in a moment of intense joy.

Words of Wisdom
The human heart, Bodhicitta, is the most precious of all. While Buddhas are helpful in life, the compassionate heart is even more precious than a Buddha. In the human heart, we see limitless hope.
