On the 6th of June His Holiness Trinley Thaye Dorje the 17th Gyalwa Karmapa visited the newly bought Diamond Way Europe Center. All the Diamond Way Buddhist Centers from around the world contributed to the purchase of this 50 hectare property situated high up in the hills of southern Germany overlooking a serene lake and lush green pastures.

His Holiness was taken on a tour of the grounds and met with the previous owner, who was happy the property was sold to positive young people who would really appreciate the potential of the place. His Holiness gave guidance on the future of the property. “Activity can grow here. This is just the first step. There can be huge courses and meditation retreats here. We have the basic conditions. We have to concentrate on quality. We need a strong foundation of what is Dharma activity or meditation.”

Karmapa remarked on the similarities with the 1st Karmapa’s retreat house “Karmatubji”, especially a particular balcony where he was told, unbeknown to anyone, that this is where His Holiness would be staying. Karmapa said that this was auspicious.

It was only a short stop in the day’s travels, as the center was just recently purchased and has not yet been developed. After a nice lunch and a quick walk around the grounds His Holiness said goodbye and was off on his way to Amden, Switzerland for a dinner engagement that evening.
